I don’t think Mitch is happy with life, because in the “The Student” chapter we can find out that Mitch had a lot of resistance for him to do things follow the life. And after his uncle died, he gave up his dream and started to work for money. I don’t know what the feeling of giving up dream because of some reasons is, because I haven’t tried it yet, but I don’t think I want to have a try, that should be very painful. Although he earned a lot of money, he didn’t felt happy at all, in fact, he used almost all of his time on working, that almost him crazy. (I think if I was him, I was already crazy.)
In the college his dream is to become a famous musician, but when he graduated from college, he met a lot of problems, he’s uncle died, he found out the world is not wonderful and kind like the world that he imaged in the college. He got married but he didn’t have so enough time to stay with his family so that he didn’t get any warm from family. When he was in the college he hated rich people, he thought a shirt and a tie were prison cloths for him, but after he gave up his dream. He became one of the evil rich man that he hated in the college.
I think now Mitch needs to go back to his way to follow his dream. He needs time to have a rest, releases himself from hard working and gives himself a chance to think about his life and self-question and tries to find his dream back. And maybe he can also use more time on his family, I think this may also make him feel better.
